OBJECTIVES
        The primary purpose of the projects should be to form collaborative partnerships, educate the community, develop a comprehensive understanding of the environmental and/or public health issues, and identify ways to address these issues at the local level. The long term goal is to help build capacity into the local community based organizations and to help communities build self-sustaining, community-based partnerships that will continue to improve local environments in the future. Funding Priority - Fiscal Year 2006: To provide financial assistance to eligible non-profit organizations. The primary purposes of proposed projects should be to create and develop collaborative partnerships, educate the community, develop a comprehensive understanding of environmental and/or public health issues, and identify ways to address these issues at the local level. The long-term goals of the EJSG Program are to help build the capacity of the affected community and create self-sustaining, community-based partnerships that will continue to improve local environments in the future. This year, the EJSG Program is designed to assist recipients in building collaborative partnerships that will help them understand and address the environmental and/or public health issues in their communities. Successful collaborative partnerships with other stakeholders involve well-designed strategic plans to build, maintain and sustain the partnerships, and to work towards addressing the local environmental and/or public health issues.
