EXAMPLES OF FUNDED PROJECTS
        AIDS Education and Training Centers have been funded to provide national coverage of education and training for health care providers who care for HIV infected patients. The grant recipients have been universities and institutions of higher education and are primarily located in areas with a high incidence of AIDS.

PROGRAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS
        13 competitive awards and 2 noncompetitive awards were made in FY 05. AETCs are providing AIDS education and training to approximately 142,000 health care providers each year. For FY 05 and FY 06, the emphasis of the AETCs is hands on clinical training in the medical care of HIV infected patients and training on the use of highly active antiretrovial therapy. 1 competitive and 14 non-competitive awards were made in FY 06. In FY 07, it is anticipated that 15 competitive and noncompetitive awards will be made.
