| OBJECTIVES |

To provide funding to public and private institutions for community-based abstinence education project grants. The project grant's objective is to reduce out-of-wedlock childbearing and sexually-transmitted diseases by teaching abstinence to adolescents ages 12 through 18 and by creating an environment within communities that support decisions to postpone sexual activity. To meet these objectives, grantees must incorporate the abstinence education definitions identified in Sections (A) through (H) in Section 510 of the Social Security Act. |
